Dry Needling at West Revive Therapy – Target the Source of Your Pain

Dry needling is a highly effective clinical technique used to release deep muscular tension and stubborn trigger points that don’t respond fully to massage alone. It allows us to treat the root cause of pain, restriction and dysfunction – not just the symptom.

At West Revive Therapy, dry needling is used as a targeted therapy and is often combined with sports or remedial massage for enhanced results.

What is Dry Needling?

Dry needling involves the insertion of a very fine, sterile, single-use needle into specific trigger points within a tight or dysfunctional muscle. These trigger points are often responsible for localised pain, referred pain or restricted movement.

Unlike acupuncture, dry needling is based on modern anatomy and pain science and focuses exclusively on musculoskeletal issues.

What Can Dry Needling Help With?

• Chronic muscle tightness
• Sports injuries
• Lower back, neck and shoulder pain
• Sciatica-type symptoms
• Hip dysfunction and gluteal pain
• Headaches caused by muscular tension
• Repetitive strain injuries
• Reduced range of motion
• Postural strain and desk-related tension

What Does it Feel Like?

Most people feel a light prick as the needle enters the skin. When the trigger point is reached, you may feel a small twitch response, deep ache or cramping sensation for a few seconds. This is normal and often followed by an immediate sense of muscle release.

Some soreness may occur for up to 48 hours post-treatment, similar to a workout soreness.
