Kinesiology tape is a therapeutic tape that is meant to help in muscle movement and with pain reduction, it can help to support joints without affecting the persons range of movement, it is claimed to lift skin away from the muscle to help reduce swelling and increase blood flow to the muscle. Some studies support the use of Kinesiology tape (or K tape for short) alongside hands on treatment and rehabilitation exercises with some Therapists using it in conjunction with their own treatment options. However evidence is limited on the real benefits of kinesiology tape with more research needed.
Kinesiology tape is an adhesive tape that is waterproof and breathable. The tape can stretch which allows it to provide support without limiting a persons mobility. It can be left on for three to five days at a time. It can be applied with different amounts of tension depending on the persons needs.

Kinesiology tape although more flexible than standard medical strapping tape it can still provide athletes with a psychological boost.
